Hello Lovelies!
Welcome to my world of fashion, lifestyle, family and travel. My name is Grace Mary Arhin. I am Ghanaian by “nature” and Canadian by “nurture”. I am a multi-hyphenate: registered nurse, wife, mother of 3, event planner extraordinaire and content creator; I wear many hats! My love for fashion blossomed when I was about 8 years old. I had pretty strict parents growing up so I couldn’t chill outside on the block with my friends. But every Wednesday the book mobile would pull up (the bookmobile was a library on wheels literally). I would borrow every Jet, Essence and Ebony magazine I could find. I’d spend hours with my nose buried in the magazines awe struck and admiring black Hollywood stars. I was fascinated by everything! Their clothes, their hairstyles, their poses, the nails, their homes, their lifestyles - EVERYTHING.
Growing up in a Pentecostal-Christian home of immigrant parents who left Ghana, West Africa for the “Canadian Dream”, pursuing my passion for the dramatic arts or anything creative for that matter was highly shunned. Don’t get me wrong, I love the sciences and I have no regrets pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. But I love urban culture. I love couture/high fashion and I’m obsessed with editorial style photography. I enjoy traveling and learning about new cultures. Planning and designing events makes my heart flutter. I listen to gospel, pop, country, rap, trap, classical, afro-beats music and so much more. It’s hard to put me in a box. For years, I tried to fit a mold and not disturb the peace by not being “too much” or “doing too much”. I didn’t want to be labelled as being too “extra”. Eventually, I started bursting at the seams of my own existence and realized that I need to accept me for who I am; I’m EXTRA-ORDINARY. I love many things and I’m passionate about various things.
I finally pulled the trigger and created this blog so I can share with you all the things I love. But most importantly, I want to document my evolution, my growth, my introspection, and everything in between. I want this blog to be a space for inspiration, faith, creativity and all around good vibes!!! In the famous words of an amazing lyricist, this blog is dedicated to “all the ladies in the place with style and grace” - Biggie Smalls.
